Effects of Moxibustion Treatment on HgCl2 - induced Acute Renal Failure in Rats


Abstract
In order to study the clinical effects of moxibustion on acute renal failure induced by HgCl©üadministration, the moxibustion was treated into the Sin-Soo locus(VIII_(23)) Jok-Sam-ri locus (III_(36)) and Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri loci, respectively and the curative effectiveness. on them was investigated by determining the urinary volume, protein, electrolyte(Na£Þ+, K£Þ+ and Cl£Þ- ) excretion, urinary alkaline phosphatase activity and plasma total protein, albumin, urea nitrogen, creatinine levels and plasma electrolyte excretion in HgCl©ü-induced acute renal failure in rats.
The following results have been obtained:
1. Urinary volume increased by moxibustion treatment, and in case of 5 hours collected immediately urine after moxibustion urinary volume increased at the Jok-Sam-ri locus, Sin-Soo locus and Sin-Soo+Jok- Sam-ri loci in order, but in case of 20 hours collected urineafter 24 hours treated by moxibustion treatment it was significant effected at the Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri, Jok-Sam-ri, Sin-sooin that order.
2. Urinary protein content effectively at all three experimental groups upon the acute renal failure on the both 5 hours and 20 hours collected urine after moxibustion.
3. Urinary electrolyte (Na£Þ+and K£Þ+) was showed significantly increase at the Jok-Sam-ri locus, Sin-Soo Jok-Sam-ri loci and Cl£Þ- content was elevated but no significant on the 20 hours urine.
4. Urinary alkaline phosphatase activity also was expectively reduced the Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri loci, Jok-Sam-ri locus, Sin-Soo locus in that order but the Sin-Soo locus was not significant on the 20 hours urine.
5. Plasma total protein and albumin levels were not effected by moxibustion treatment.
6. Urea nitrogen contents in plasma for the 5 hours and 20 hours urine were reduced at the Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri, Jok-Sam-ri, Sin-Soo in that order but the Jok-Sam-ri locus and Sin-Soo locus were showed significamtly.
7. Creatinine contents in plasma for the 5 hours and 20 hours urine were decreased at the Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri loci, Jok-Sam-ri locus, Sin-Soo locus in that order but the Sin-Soo+Jok-Sam-ri loci and Jok-Sam-ri locus were remarkedly lowered.
8. Plasma electrolyte (Na£Þ+ , K£Þ+ , Cl£Þ-) was slightly changed in all above groups, but Sin-Soo locus only was significantly increased on the 5 hours urine.
